History of Deutsche Bank Group in MENA

1870 Deutsche Bank was founded in Berlin to promote and facilitate trade relations between Germany and international markets.

1899 Deutsche Bank received the "preliminary concession" for the Baghdad Railway, which obliged it to build a railway from Konia to Baghdad and on to Basra.

1914 Deutsche Bank opened a sub-branch in Baghdad, which had to be closed three years later because of World War I.

1959 Opening of Deutsche Bank Representative Office in Cairo

1961 Deutsche Bank first established in Pakistan on 22 July 1961, with the name Deutsch Asiatische Bank, which was later renamed as Deutsche Bank AG on 5 April 1988.

1962 Deutsch-Asiatische Bank opened its first branch for Pakistan in Karachi.

1967 Opening of Deutsche Bank Representative Office in Beirut to serve the countries of the Middle East. In 1981 the office was closed due to the civil war.

1972 Deutsch-Asiatische Bank and its branch in Karachi were integrated into the newly founded European Asian Bank.

1976 Bankers Trust, which was acquired by Deutsche Bank in 1999, opened a Representative Office in Manama, Bahrain

1983 Opening of Deutsche Bank Representative Office in Manama, Bahrain

1988 Deutsche Bank (Asia) was merged into Deutsche Bank AG. The branches in Karachi and Lahore began to operate under the name of Deutsche Bank AG.

1996 Deutsche Bank opened its third branch for Pakistan in Islamabad.

1999 Opening of Deutsche Bank Representative Office in Abu Dhabi

2001 Opening of Deutsche Bank Representative Office in Dubai

2004 Deutsche Bank executed the first sovereign bond issue of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan since 1999.

2005 Deutsche Bank acted as joint bookrunner for a US$ 800 m. due tranche sovereign bond offering, the largest-ever funding by the Republic of Pakistan. Opening of Deutsche Bank Dubai Branch in the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC)

2006 Opening of Deutsche Bank Riyadh Branch

2007 Opening of Deutsche Bank Doha Branch Saudi Arabia: Deutsche Securities Saudi Arabia LLC incorporated

2008 Deutsche Bank established Deutsche Securities and Services (DSS) an on-shore branch in Dubai to render custody services

2010 Opening of Deutsche Bank Abu Dhabi Branch

2011 Deutsche Bank celebrates 50 years in Pakistan

2013 Deutsche Bank’s Middle East Foundation celebrates its 5th anniversary

2015 Deutsche Bank celebrates 10 years in Dubai International Financial Center.

2016 Deutsche Bank celebrates 10 years in Saudi Arabia. Deutsche Bank supports the German Pavilion during the Janadriyah 2016 Festival in Saudi Arabia.

2017 In collaboration with Qatar Museums, Deutsche Bank participate in the Qatar Germany 2017 Year of Culture by having its ‘German Encounters: Contemporary Masterpieces from the Deutsche Bank Collection” exhibition in Doha. Deutsche Bank launches its first Ladies Finance Forum in Riyadh. Deutsche Bank celebrates 10 years in Qatar.
