Employees take action against food insecurity

CSR Americas hosts largest to date on-site volunteer project.

In May 2023, over 200 Deutsche Bank employees came together in the Deutsche Bank Center to volunteer with long-time CSR Americas partner Food Bank For New York City, New York City's largest hunger-relief organization.

This impactful event was Deutsche Bank's biggest volunteer project in recent history, and the contributions of employees made it possible for the food bank to distribute the equivalent of 18,000 free meals to New Yorkers in need.

Through a dynamic hands-on day of service, employees packed 2,000 boxes of nutritious food to be distributed to nine Food Bank For New York City member agencies that serve New Yorkers across all five boroughs.

Nearly 1.6 million New York City residents are projected to be experiencing food insecurity due to the ongoing economic effects of the pandemic and increased costs of living. Pantry lines in the hardest hit neighborhoods have doubled in length as residents struggle to choose between purchasing food or allocating resources to other household necessities. The efforts of Food Bank For New York City ensure New Yorkers have access to healthy food needed to thrive.

"Deutsche Bank is proud to provide employees with meaningful volunteer engagements that strengthen our shared communities. We deeply value the opportunity to connect employees with Food Bank For New York City to support the critical hunger relief work of the organization." said Alessandra DiGiusto, Head of CSR Americas and Executive Director, Deutsche Bank Americas Foundation.
