Guiding futures

Our partnership with Big Brothers Big Sisters of New York City dates back more than 15 years. The organization's Workplace Mentoring Program pairs corporate volunteers with middle and high school students for a full academic year of one-to-one mentorship, greatly raising students’ self-confidence as well as their academic aspirations and performance.

The program meets twice a month throughout the school year, about 15 times total, at the host company’s office. During each visit, “Bigs” meet one on one with their “Littles” and help them map out their futures through structured activities designed and facilitated by a BBBS of NYC program manager. The curriculum emphasizes career and life skills, covering topics such as business etiquette, career exploration, financial investment and teamwork. We collaborate with BBBS staff to integrate our unique resources into program activities (for example, a guided tour of works from the Deutsche Bank Collection and a resume-writing session featuring a member of our HR graduate recruiting team). 

Three program days are reserved for “business trips” to local venues for recreational, cultural or community service activities. Besides the bi-monthly visits, telephone and email contact between mentors and their students is encouraged.
