Frieze New York

Deutsche Bank is proud to renew its fifteen-year engagement with Frieze as the global lead partner for this iconic fair.

Now in its seventh year, Frieze New York has established itself as one of the most highly anticipated events on the international art calendar alongside Frieze London and Frieze Masters. As the global lead sponsor, Deutsche Bank continues its longstanding commitment to identifying and encouraging new artistic talent. This year's fair will feature 190 galleries from 30 countries, highlighting an international array of emerging and established artists.

This year, Brazilian-born, New York-based artist Valeska Soares is invited to produce  a site-specific installation in the Deutsche Bank Wealth Management Lounge.

Soares utilizes her training in modernist architecture to create environments and objects that evoke poetic, shared experiences. Often using found, repurposed materials as metaphors for associative or furtive memories, she explores the oppositional nature of human emotions and themes such as presence and absence, memory and language, temptation and desire, the personal and the intellectual.

Soares's work has been widely exhibited at museums and biennials around  the world. A retrospective of her work, sponsored by Deutsche Bank, will open at the Pinacoteca do Estado, Sao Paulo in August 2018.

Deutsche Bank is also proud to support the Frieze Teens program, which offers high school students  interested in contemporary art unparalleled access to the field's inner workings.  Participants meet weekly for workshops, lectures, and studio visits with some of the most city's most notable artists and cultural institutions. The program culminates at the Frieze Fair, where the teens draw on their newfound knowledge of current practices in the contemporary art world as tour guides for visiting school groups.
