Jeff Chien-Hsing Liao's New York: Assembled Realities

Deutsche Bank is pleased to sponsor a major solo exhibition by photographer Jeff Chien-Hsing Liao, on view at the Museum of the City of New York.

Taiwanese artist Jeff Chien-Hsing Liao (b. 1977), who has multiple works represented in the Deutsche Bank Collection, came to New York at 18 to study photography and has been inspired by both city and craft ever since. Liao creates large-scale panoramas by combining multiple exposures of the same location taken over the course of several hours. The resulting composite photographs are fascinating, complex, hyper-real views that no single shot—or the eye—could capture. Liao has spent the past decade honing his distinctive style, making images of his adopted city and travelling its many immigrant routes from Time Square to Flushing, the Grand Concourse to Coney Island. Liao has also documented the monumental shifts of baseball eras from the old to the new Shea and Yankee Stadiums. Assembled Realities will feature more than 40 works by this artist who delightfully pushes the boundaries of traditional documentary photography.
