Jennifer Schmidt 2017 Deutsche Bank NYFA Fellow

Deutsche Bank is pleased to announce that Jennifer Schmidt is the 2017 recipient of the Deutsche Bank Fellowship Award, administered through the New York Foundation for the Arts (NYFA).

Jennifer Schmidt was selected to be Deutsche Bank's 2017 NYFA Fellow in the Printmaking, Drawing and Book Arts category. Schmidt is a multi-media artist living in Brooklyn, NY. She describes her works as "print media, graphic design, and sound to create site-specific installations, video, and performances that question the role of visual iconography and repetitive actions within a given environment." She is fascinated by experimentation in printmaking techniques. During a recent artist residency at the Skaftfell Center for Visual Arts in Seydisfjourdur, Iceland, Schmidt created monoprints using the etching press of Dieter Roth, a twentieth-century Swiss artists famous for his use of spoiled foods in prints. This experience further connects her work to innovative methods. Schmidt's work is currently exhibited in "The Prints of Lake Effect Editions at Syracuse University" at the Louise and Bernard Palitz Gallery in New York City until November 9, 2017.

Deutsche Bank has been supporting a NYFA Fellow annually since 1999.
